H.C. WITHERS ELEMENTARY
AUTO ARCH
Harry C. Withers Elementary School is undergoing a transformative renovation and expansion to modernize its facilities, enhance safety, and create a more cohesive and functional environment for students and staff. As the project lead, I oversaw the development of detailed existing condition drawings, conducting thorough site visits and precise field measurements to ensure accuracy from the start. I prepared demolition plans that carefully outlined areas for removal and modification, balancing the need for modernization with preserving key structural elements. One of the core challenges was blending the new additions including a 10-classroom wing with an integrated tornado shelter with the existing building to create a unified architectural language. I worked closely with consultants and stakeholders to resolve these complexities, ensuring that the new design respected the original structure while introducing modern materials and energy-efficient systems.
